Carpentry Apprentice

A carpentry apprentice learns and gets paid at the same time. An apprentice also works under a skilled carpenter when doing carpentry work. For young people being an apprentice is an alternative to college. For apprentices to become full blown carpentry professionals it usually takes up to 4 years of on the job training and schooling. I learned over 90 percent of the work on the job.

Being an apprentice is not bad at all. The first two years I got familiar with all the tools including power tools and the last two years I got familiar with the work.

If you don’t mind taking orders and having a carpenter show you the ropes in carpentry then being an apprentice is for you. One reason why I chose carpentry was I couldn’t see myself wasting money in college, I barely passed high school.

In my four year apprenticeship everyday was not a walk in the park. There was times were I wanted to quit and other were I wanted to fight someone for being rude or disrespectful. Everyone has days like this do not let situations get in the way or destroy your goal. Keep your eyes on the prize, which in this case it is a master carpenter/journeyman.

Carpentry apprentice, here is some important lessons in carpentry that you do not want to miss.
