Carpentry School

The carpenters union has a carpentry school for apprentices who want to become journeymen. The school also has brush up courses for journeyman who want to enhance there skill in carpentry.In this school they are taught all of the secrets and tips of carpentry.There are 7 major areas in carpentry that the school teaches on paper and hands on and they are;

Interior systems

Concrete

Trim

Framing

Spackling

OSHA safety classes

Math Classes

At the begining of my apprenticeship there were ruffly 40-50 apprenticeses in my class towards the end there were about 7 of us all together that graduated.Some people droped out while others failed drug tests and some just didnt go to class when they were scheduled as a result,termination.But either way I made,by not following the crowd,and obeying the rules and guidelines that the carpentry school has,plain and simple.

For 5-6 weeks out of each year,for 4 years I attended this school.The school has alot to offer they also have a welding class, fire caulking class,blueprint reading, cabinet making and flooring and the list goes on and on they never sease to amaze me because it seems like every month they have some new course for apprenticeses to take.They taught me alot but I learned mostly everything on the field.The school for me was like a brush up course in some areas.

Everyone is different when it comes to learning and the school realizes that fortunately.They let you learn and progress at your own pace.Apprentices get paper work to do as well as plenty of hands on projects as well.Some projects are pretty big it may take a week to complete them so the teacher(s) may pair you up with a partner it all depends on how big the project is, the same thing applies in the field.

It was a milestone for me to graduate from the carpenty school in Kenilworth New Jersey.It was all worth it cause now I am making good money,$37.27 a hour and loving it.
